Folkloric hypnotics

An Independent Canadian Musician reclaiming and communicating the Pan-African Narrative. Asuquomo has been described by bandcamp daily as "...an Artist elevating Ottawa immigrant communities". The 2019 Canadian Music Week Showcase, presented by Bluecrane Agency and AfroFest, saw the premiere of Wide Awake, an entrancing gyration with a docu-style Improv short film directed by the MO, produced and edited by Prassars Collective.

Wide Awake shows Asuquomo in a community of all sorts of hustlers in the southside region of Nigeria, Port Harcourt.
Street hustlers, Workmen in overused over-alls, all holding a sense of urgency, literally from day-break till sun down.
The narrative is edgy, raw, deep, and cuts through the show-off of the vibrancy and oil-soiled surroundings.

The Artist describes the process of WIDE AWAKE as an immersive improv, to communicate these emotions movements and messages. Asuquomo’s 2018 LP "This That Mo” released under birth name Morris Ogbowu, is the recipient of the Rick and Brune Sinneave Artsit Award, presented at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity 2018 - A fusion of AfroRap and Hip/Hop, inspired by an interest in graphic adaptations and narrative driven witting for live theater and film.

MO toured across six universities on an Ontario Campus Tour in the Fall of 2015 and was presented with the Artist of the year Award by Le Rouge Affairs 2016. Asuquomo performed as a special guest at 2016 Ottawa’s Bluesfest Mainstage and was invited back in 2018 to play an hour-long set with a live band at the 2018 RBC Bluesfest and has also shared stages with International acts like Wizkid, Jazz Cartier, Lido Pimienta, Zaki Ibrahim, Shay Lia, BROCKHAMPTON and Lil Yatchy's Label Affiliate Kodie Shane.

MO recently got elected onto the Board of Directors for Ottawa Music industry Coalition (OMIC) and is currently working on a debut EP… and will be playing live gigs throughout summer 2019.
